Explorers Lodge

Discover the freedom of this tranquil 1940s lodge, set amongst tall trees and gardens, on the edge of the historical town of New Norfolk, close to the Derwent River and only 30 minutes from Hobart. Welcome to our charming New England designed homestead which was built for executives of a by gone era.

French windows open onto wide lawns, towering poplar trees and gardens where spring flowers blaze with colour. The secluded swimming pool is fringed with trees laden with pears, apples and plums. On autumn’s crisp days, golden leaves adorn the ground. On wintry days, a warm and cheerful fire awaits in the inviting sunken sitting room where you will find books and a television. Guests enjoy chatting to fellow travellers from around the world.

The sunroom looks out over the garden, and there is a deep freeze and fridge for your use. BBQ facilities are available on request. A substantial continental breakfast is served in the bay windowed dining room.
Enjoy sipping a glass of wine in the light of long summer evenings, while taking in the view of the surrounding hills. Those of our guests who love both hiking and touring, stay for a week or more to discover the sights of nearby Hobart, the walks in Mt Field National Park and the attractions of the beautiful Derwent Valley.
